Kit (formerly ConvertKit) vs Systeme.io: Which is Better in 2026?
Both have free plans. Kit's holds five times more contacts — and Systeme's does five times more with them. Where that trade stops paying off.
Where the Free Plans Cross
Both platforms lead with a free plan, and the headline comparison is list size: Kit gives you 10,000 subscribers free, Systeme gives you 2,000. Five times more, so Kit wins. That is where most comparisons stop.
But the two free plans are not the same product. Kit's free tier is an email tool: unlimited broadcasts, unlimited landing pages and forms, tagging and segmentation, and 1 basic automation. Systeme's free tier is a business in miniature: 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 online course, a blog, an affiliate program, unlimited sends, and 1 automation rule.
So the honest question isn't which free plan is bigger. It's whether you need to sell something. If you do, Systeme's free plan does it and Kit's doesn't — you would be bolting a funnel builder and a course platform onto Kit at extra cost. If you don't, Kit's free plan carries five times the audience for the same $0.
Under 2,000
Both free. Systeme does more — funnels, a course, an affiliate program.Systeme wins on capability.
2,000 – 10,000
Kit still free. Systeme now costs $17/mo (to 5,000) or $47/mo (to 10,000).Kit wins on price — if 1 automation is enough.
Above 10,000
Kit's free plan stops. Creator is $139/mo at 10,000; Systeme is $47.Systeme is a third the price.
That last column is the one worth sitting with. At 10,000 contacts, Systeme's Webinar plan is $47/mo and Kit's Creator plan is $139/mo — nearly three times as much — and the cheaper one also includes sales funnels, unlimited courses, an affiliate program and evergreen webinars, none of which Kit offers at any price.
What Kit is charging the premium for is email itself: a genuinely better automation builder, stronger deliverability, and segmentation Systeme doesn't match. That can be worth $92 a month if email is the business — a newsletter with sponsors, a writer whose list is the whole asset. It is very hard to justify if email is one channel among several, because you are paying three times as much for less platform.
A structural note that makes the maths easier: both bill annually at 10× the monthly rate — two months free on each. So the ratio between them is the same whichever way you pay, and neither is hiding a discount the other lacks.
Pricing verified against kit.com/pricing and systeme.io/pricing on July 20, 2026. Kit checked at the 1,000, 10,000 and 15,000 subscriber settings in both monthly and annual billing states; its pricing page defaults to annual, where Creator displays as “$33/mo” against a true monthly rate of $39. Kit's free plan is unavailable above 10,000 subscribers. Systeme tiers are Free (2,000 contacts) / Startup $17 (5,000) / Webinar $47 (10,000) / Unlimited $97. Verify current rates before purchasing.
